Manila has been seeing a lot of new restaurants lately… from hole in the wall type of places to small concept-based cafes, from casual diners and bars around town to new or renovated hotel restaurants here and there.
And there’s one place which closed down for several months and I am happy to find out is back in the restaurant scene again! This is THE TASTING ROOM at NÜWA in City of Dreams Manila.
It is a reopening of sorts for this well-loved restaurant of food conoisseurs as it has just finished its renovation and moving to its new location (which is really just across its old spot). It has maintained its modern European cuisine but this time around, the restaurant has a high ceiling, some dramatic artworks and a striking flower display at the center of the room which gives the place a distinctively classic and elegant feel.
The restaurant has a 56-seat capacity, consisting of the main dining area for 40 guests, a semi-private area and a bar which can each accommodate eight persons.
It also has a new Chef de Cuisine, Frederic Thevenet, who has an extensive 30-year culinary background working in Michelin-starred restaurants across France and in the UK.
Guests can also expect a warm and amicable dining experience complemented by topnotch and detailed service led by Restaurant Manager Stephen Moroney.
Take a look at what we had from their ala carte menu. It’s a very fresh, contemporary take on haute French cuisine infused with Asian influences using the season’s best produce from the Philippines and abroad :
Amuse Bouche

King Crab / Scallop / Oyster / Cauliflower Jelly / Cucumber / Dill
Egg / Caviar / Haddock
Lobster / Curry / Apricot

Served with Spelt / Green Curry / Porcini Our two desserts :

Wine pairing is offered at an additional P2,000++ and P2,800++, respectively.

The Crown Hotel is now called called Nuwa? That location was once a favorite bar…
Yes, that’s right! 🙂
