Last week, I went to Dr. Aivee and Dr. Z Teo’s The A-Institute to finally do something I’ve been thinking of doing for quite sometime…
But first let me share with you a little bit of background about this place.
The A Institute is The Aivee Group’s latest cutting edge center of excellence, with a multi specialty facility combining the country’s top surgeons with the most advanced and sophisticated world class surgical unit and a thorough five star patient care system.
I call it a one-stop shop for all beauty, wellness and health treatments. This place is led by internationally trained, board-certified doctors and surgeons offering innovative and integrative treatments through customized centers of specialization. They provide personalized care in their six major labs: Aesthetic Surgery, Hair Lab, Slimming Lab, Snoring Lab, Orthosports Lab and Anti-ageing Lab.
But what I like most about coming to the The A-Institute is its world-class facilities and personalized service! Just take a look at their reception area and one of their many well-fitted and spacious treatment rooms.
Aside from that, there is also the very stylish and sleek Aivee Café which offers a very unique, holistic and delicious menu!
I mean, where else can you find a dermatology clinic with a chic cafe like this — where you can relax, meet with friends and eat a very healthy menu at the same time?
So back to my treatment!
I’ve been hearing so much about ULTHERA lately that it led me to be curious and made me start my own research about it — reading everything I see, asking doctors about the pros and cons and talking to friends who have done it before. After much thought, I then decided that it was time for me to take the plunge!
ULTHERA or ULTHERAPY is the latest revolutionary non-surgical facial lifting and skin tightening procedure that uses focused ultrasound. This procedure is meant to stimulate our collagen and elastin production.
I knew that this is the perfect treatment I need right now since lately (or since I hit my mid 30’s), I have been noticing changes in my skin’s firmness and elasticity. I also just learned that it is when we hit the age of 25 that we slowly loose our collagen. So ULTHERA is the way to go if you want to boost your collagen and elastin production again!
So here I am all suited up in my nice silky black Aivee robe and all ready to start!
My therapist started preparing me for the ULTHERA procedure by removing all traces of dirt and makeup.
She then applied the topical anesthesia, Emla, to make my skin feel a little bit numb.
This is important because the machine delivers focused ultra sound waves which has a little bit of heat and tingling sensation!
The mere application of Emla felt like a deep facial massage which I thoroughly enjoyed and relaxed me completely!
The Emla was then left on my skin for 40 minutes. After which it was removed and ULTHERA started…
ULTHERA uses tried-and-true ultrasound technology, which has received FDA clearance for use in this new type of medical procedure.
ULTHERA is the answer to our problems of loose skin, sagging eyes, jowls, and neck. One treatment is enough for a real noticeable lift and tightening, which can last up to a year! (Yes, the effects last that long, which means you only need to do this once a year!)
Here is Dr. Lyn Guiyab, one of The A Institute’s amazing doctors, analyzing my skin’s firmness and elasticity. She looked at it from all angles, and only after then did she decide what kind of “level” I need and which area in particular the machine must concentrate on.
ULTHERA stimulates the creation of collagen. Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firmed, toned and elastic. As I have mentioned earlier, as we age, collagen loses its elasticity and its ability to stand up to the effects of gravity that pull our skin downward. ULTHERA therefore jumpstarts a repair process that produces fresh and new collagen!
Unlike a facelift, ULTHERA is a non-invasive procedure that addresses the skin and supports layers below it, but doesn’t entail cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.
ULTHERA is an entirely non-invasive procedure and such, there is no downtime. You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take! How cool is that?! This is really perfect for busy moms like me!
Dr. Lyn even goes down my chin and neck to make sure that all sagging areas are covered!
I can’t believe that the whole procedure took only 45 minutes to finish! As of now, I am already enjoying seeing some initial effects but Dr Lyn told me that the ultimate lifting and toning will actually take place over 2-3 months, as tired collagen needs that amount of time to be replaced with new and more elastic collagen.
Don’t worry, I will report back to you and show you more evident results in 2-3 months’ time. I am really excited about that… so stay tuned!
Ending this beauty post with a quick video I made of the ULTHERA procedure :
