Candles, Wine and Flowers, A Pre-Valentine Workshop

Last January 31st, my little events company called TSM Luxe Events hosted an intimate pre-Valentine workshop in Manila’s premiere flower boutique, Te Amo Floristeria Manila.

We called the workshop : Candles, Wine and Flowers, since these are the 3 things that are close to our hearts (pun intended!) especially during this season of love, Valentine’s!

While I was waiting for the guests to arrive, I had fun picking from the baskets of fresh flowers available in Te Amo. Most of their fresh flowers here are rare and hard to find, as they are all imported from different parts of the world.

When all the guests had arrived, I started the workshop by giving a small talk on CANDLES. Having candles in my product line for Grace Home, I was able to share my knowledge and experience about them.

I talked about the different types of candles available today, the best way to store and clean them, how to use them to add elegance and style to your dining table and lastly, how to “take advantage” of the warm light or that golden glow, and the different scents they give out to add a little bit more “romance” in your love department! Of course, that last part of my talk was the most exciting and kept the guests giggling!

Of course, the whole venue was scented by no less than our favorite candles from Grace Home!

After our candle talk, it was time for our basic wine 101 class!

We had Roxanne Lee, owner of Artisan Cellar Door, a premier wine shop, talk about the different floral notes found in certain types or bottles of wine and how to better appreciate them.

She brought 3 kinds of wine : Torrontes white from Argentina, Beaujolais Villages red from Burgundy, and Domaines Schlumberger Gewurztraminer rosé from Alsace, France.

All the ladies enjoyed this part too. After all, it was cocktail hour!

Right after that short wine course, it was time for our much-awaited flower workshop, hosted by Te Amo.

Each one was given a Te Amo apron to wear to protect their clothes…

And a whole set of materials to make their own special flower box!

Each one had a heart box, flower foam, a couple of pairs of scissors, cutter and a bunch of fresh flowers to choose from.

Then it was time to buckle down to work!

We had the lead florists of Te Amo guide us through the step-by-step process of making this flower box.

This activity although very fun, made me realize that flower arranging is really not as easy as it looks!

And I guess all the ladies felt challenged as well and took this task seriously!

But everyone was happy with their finished product! Each guest got to bring home their own fresh flower arrangement in a box! Thank you for this lovely Valentine gift, Te Amo!

And here’s one lovely guest who proudly said that candles and flowers do really go well together — especially if they are candles from Grace Home and fresh flowers from Te Amo! And I couldn’t agree more!

Don’t you think these two things make the perfect Valentine gift to your special someone?

And of course a Spoiled Mummy event will not be complete without some delicious food! Our scrumptious cocktail menu for the afternoon was prepared by Trish Panlilio of Nawwty’s Kitchen.

We were served chicken croquettes, spicy potato with aioli, apple and chorizo salpicao, and bacon & quail egg skewers!

Lastly, aside from the fresh flower box the guests made, each one also brought home with them a Grace Home Chocolate Decadence Cake, made by The Flour Girl!
*I’ve written about this special cake in my previous blog post here.
