Just recently, I was invited by Chef Miko Aspiras, one of the chef partners of the newest dessert place in town to come and visit his latest passion project, Freezer Burn.
Having heard from a lot of people that this is not just any ordinary ice cream shoppe, I readily said yes and set a date with him for a visit and a video interview for The Spoiled Mummy!
Just a brief backgrounder : I met Miko a few years ago while I was dining in one of the new French restaurants in town. Being a big chocolate lover myself, I headed straight to the dessert table and was blown away by this ridiculously delicious Salted Chocolate Tart that was part of the spread. I wrote about it immediately here on the blog (and yes, The Spoiled Mummy was very new back then) and Miko got word that his cake was blogged about by this “new blogger”. So he sent me an email right away and thanked me for the review. Without wasting any time, I asked him if he can make the same cake for my upcoming birthday. He said yes and delivered it to me personally… and that’s when we met and instantly hit it off as friends!
Since then, he rose from the ranks, and moved on to many other postings…from being the dessert chef of the French restaurant Impressions in Resorts World Manila to being the executive pastry chef of Raffles Hotel, then to creating his very own Scout’s Honor Craft Cookie Shop in Hole in the Wall, and then to being the executive chef of Le Petite Souffle in Century Mall. In between all those, he joined a couple of dessert competitions internationally, and won medals for our country!
So you see this interview didn’t feel like work at all, as it was very candid and casual, just like two old friends chatting and eating ice cream together! (You can also just imagine the many laughs and bloopers we had in between!)
So enough of my side stories… let me now present to you The Spoiled Mummy’s latest vlog — yes, a blog but in video form!
(*Tell me what you think about it too in the comments section below!)
Special thanks too to Serica Rojas of Sunny Studios and Kristine Lotilla, Miko’s chef partner for Freezer Burn for helping us during the filming of this video.

Freezer Burn has so many amazing “composed desserts”, but if you’re curious to know which ones I loved best, here they are :
Thick Mints : made of The Best Mint Straciatella Ice Cream and their homemade 5-Bite Brownie
Browned Butter Pecan Peanut Butter Banana : made of Browned Butter Pecan Ice Cream, homemade waffle topped with bananas and peanut butter!
Ketchup Mayo Fries : made of Ketchup Mayo Ice Cream with a side dish of crispy salt and pepper fries.
Yes, I know, it can’t get any weirder than that! It really is worth the hype and I promise you, worth a try! 😉 Try it and let me know what you guys think!
Freezer Burn is located at Ground Floor, Q3, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City
