TSM’s Fave Things: April 2016

This month, I had the best laksa in the city and had a childhood favorite come back to life as a cookie. April has also given me a few bits of inspirations here and there : a new and stylish sportswear, a couple of chic and practical notebooks, and some of the most gorgeous tableware I’ve ever seen — no matter even if I can’t afford them!

Malay Curry Laksa from High Street Cafe

TSM Curry Laksa High Street Cafe

This is the best laksa in Manila I’ve had in a loooong time. I found it in Shangri-La at the Fort’s High Street Cafe. This laksa is made of traditional Malaysian noodles with prawns, chicken, tofu puff and fish balls. I topped it with sprigs of coriander, chopped spring onions and lots of garlic and red chili for that much needed heat and spice. Be prepared to have more than one bowl, believe me it surely is worth every spoonful!

Milo Dinosaur Cookie from The Bald Baker

TSM Baldbaker Milo Cookie

The Bald Baker, after taking a break is now back with a vengeance, with a new cookie creation called: The Milo DinosaurIt’s a chewy Milo cookie dough topped with Milo crumble and then finished off with a generous heaping of Milo powder on top. This deliciously chewy and crumbly cookie reminded me so much of my chubby (read: fat) childhood days when I would sneak inside the kitchen and scoop what I thought was a “magical chocolate powder” straight from its can!

Notebooks from Paper and Co

TSM Paper and Co Notebooks

I love pretty paper and stationery. I used to collect — no, more like hoard them when I was younger. I still collect them now, but I only keep those that are useful and practical. Nowadays, I’m using these uber chic notebooks from Paper and Co. to help me keep track of the many things that are going on in my busy day. I love how each one of them is labeled: “Expect the Unexpected”, a good reminder stay positive and to keep expecting only the best, and “Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner” a great way to keep all my recipes and menus in one place!

Ombré Performance Leggings from Sweat Pants Project

TSM Sweat Pants Project

Sometimes all we need is just a little bit more motivation and a pair of new sweatpants to get us going. I am currently loving my new black and white Ombré Performance Leggings from Sweat Pants Project. It’s cool and comfy, and I can mix and match it with anything. Seriously, my gym wear has never been this cool and stylish (and my trainer will probably thank me for it!), so yes this is helping me a lot in terms of pushing myself to exercise again!

Hermès Maison Tableware

TSM Hermes 3

My current obsession these days are anything that has to do with dinnerware. I like my bowls and plates in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes. From casual to formal, to everything in between — I seriously love them all!

TSM Hermes 2

Recently, I was delighted to view a showcase of the most gorgeous and elegant plates I’ve ever seen at the launch of the newly refurbished Hermès store in Greenbelt 3, now called Hermès Maison.

TSM Hermes 1

This particular collection is called Voyage en Ikat, taking its inspiration from the fabric decorative technique in which warp or weft threads, or both, are tie-dyed before weaving. Hermes Maison, the first and the only one in the country, carries the French luxury house’s line of furniture and other home accoutrements, aside from its popular fashion line of leather bags, shoes, and silk scarves.
