The NEW me as The Spoiled Mummy Turns 2!

Oh wow! Two major things are actually happening in front of me right now : The blog has just turned two and I have just clicked that most elusive LAUNCH button to show you the new and updated version of The Spoiled Mummy! I don’t even know where to begin!

First of all, let me thank all my readers for sticking it out here with me, through thick and thin. (Yes and I mean that literally and figuratively, lol.) I am grateful to everyone who has supported, helped and believed in me…because there are days when I still wonder if I should continue with this or not.

But I figured that if I really didn’t enjoy what I was doing…then The Spoiled Mummy wouldn’t be here announcing its 2nd anniversary and revealing a new look of the website! So let me now unabashedly admit that yes, I do love what I am doing, and I am staying on until you are all staying here with me!

Yes, this blog is all about sharing. I love sharing the bits and pieces of what I know. I love finding inspiration here and there, and sending them out to all of you. In the same way, I also love reading your feedback and messages, because they all inspire me to do better. This is my job, my work and my commitment to you. And because I really love what I am doing here, this is something I enjoy and look forward to every day.

Now, some people think that blogging is as easy as 1-2-3. It looks very simple actually : typing words, attaching photos and sharing it on the web. I guess for some, it really is, but let me tell you that blogging is really more than that. It is more than just posting an article for the sake of posting.

Blogging is an art, a profession, a business, a creative outlet, a passion, all rolled into one. But in this day and age, anyone can be a “blogger”. Anyone can start an online diary and start sharing away. But for some like me who started blogging as a passion project and as an outlet where we can share our true thoughts and real experiences, this is something we take to heart.

What I have learned so far in this 2-year journey is that blogging is much more than writing. Because if only for that, then I would have written and posted more than one article a day, and could have garnered thousands of followers in one week. But since blogging to me is something more than writing and more than the numbers, I do feel that I have a level of commitment and a  certain kind of connection with my readers. I think about everything a hundred times over before I click that big scary button : “PUBLISH”.

Of course what matters to me, may not really matter to some. Blogging is very personal and subjective in that sense. This is my own personal diary, containing my random thoughts and things that I treasure the most and love to write about.

And blogging is subjective because everyone is entitled to their own opinion and interpretation. I am not here to tell you where to go and what to do, or what is good and what is bad, or that I am right and you are wrong. But I’m just here to share with you my own personal views and experiences, my own take on the matter. The next step of whether you will believe in my credibility or not, is really your call.

I for one, am not easily swayed by other people’s opinions. I have my own beliefs and values which I uphold. What you see and what you get here, are really all about me. No amount of persuasion will make me write about something that I don’t truly believe in. This is my job and this is my commitment to my readers.

I am often asked if I am afraid of competition since the blogging industry is continuously growing. I say NO, because I have high regard for those who started way ahead of me and where they are now is an inspiration to an amateur like me. I also give due respect to the new ones because I was once in their shoes too. If there’s one nugget of wisdom I would share with them, it’s that you must love what you are doing. Blogging becomes a worthwhile experience only if you are passionate about sharing your views. Because believe it or not, readers can tell if you are being true or not. But once readers see and appreciate your integrity, that’s when you will realize that your time spent blogging is worth it after all.

Now that The Spoiled Mummy is two, I would like to think that I have also evolved into a better blogger, a better writer and a better person. This blog has introduced me to a lot of amazing people I now call as friends.  This is the reason why I decided to have a complete makeover of the site, to show my growth in and outside of this blog.

I also wanted show myself that I can now eliminate the unnecessary ways of the old and add only the more important ones in this new chapter. To be technical about my new site, I believe the font is more readable, the colors are more pleasing to the eye, the logo is more elegant, the look is more streamlined and more importantly, the site is easier for everyone to navigate.

As much as I am not fond of change, I know that inevitably, I had to face this big change. My family and friends who know me as a big creature of habit, saw how this whole process of changing my site actually created a big stir in me. But now that I look at it, I know I made the right decision. It is about time that I make this change. I have grown and evolved. Yes, you may probably still see a couple of flaws here and there, but that’s the way life is – nothing is ever completely done, nothing is perfect. I would be the first to admit that yes, there are still a lot of things I want to learn and improve on. But the most important thing is : The Spoiled Mummy has moved on to something bigger, bolder and better.

Watch out for more exciting news soon!

      1. Of course. You also have a special place among my #blogcoaching students, and you have certainly been one of the most diligent in applying your brand as a blogger. Congratulations again, and here’s to an even better year for you and TSM.

  2. Congratulations Spoiled Mummy on your second year and I hope to see your blog grow and evolve each year. Like you Im a mom too and Im an interiior designer. I keep a home office because i find the corporate structure too rigid for a creative spoiled mummy like me. I am so inspired by all the elegant table settings you do.
