New Skincare and Makeup Favorites

Now that I am traveling again, I’ve received a lot of questions on what skincare and makeup products I bring on my long trips. While I am packing, I also research on the climate or weather of the place where I am going. This helps me in planning what clothes to pack and what skincare and makeup products to bring.

If  I am going to a cooler climate, I bring beauty products that are “richer”, or those that have moisturizing qualities in them. And if I am going to a warmer climate, I make sure that I bring skincare and makeup products that have sunscreen included in its ingredients.

Then of course, I also have my favorites. These are the ones I use both at home and when I travel. These are skincare and makeup products that I have recently tried and discovered work wonders for me.

Clarins’ Shaping Facial Lift Total V Contouring Serum. This product is all about helping us achieve a more refined facial contour. It is not about changing our face’s natural shape – we don’t want that – but is more about helping our face look less bloated and less puffy, and “more angular” or “more contoured” instead. The serum’s natural plant-based ingredients and extracts help to release excess fat, drain excess fluids and preserve the firmness of our skin.

Just a little bit of this product twice daily will help you attain :

1) a more defined jaw line – say goodbye to your double chin!

2) reduce the bloating and puffiness on your face – which I get every time I travel!

3) preserve the firmness of your skin on both the face and neck – I make sure to apply this product on both areas, for they always have to receive the same amount of care!

And what are the makeup products I brought with me on this trip?

Laura Mercier’s Colour to Go Portable Palette – this small and handy kit has everything I need for my eyes, cheeks and lips. Everything is inside one convenient compact. It is portable and bag-friendly! It comes in a double-decker design which includes a full-size mirror along all other color essentials.

The top level is all about eyes with a trio of eye colors including Ballerina Pink (Luster), Rosy Taupe (Luster) and Cocoa Brown (Sateen), plus a Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Ground Espresso, for added intensity.

The bottom level of this compact meanwhile has a Bronzing Pressed Powder in Soft Bronze and Second Skin Cheek Colour in Pink Lotus, that give me a sun-kissed glow and just the right pinch of color on my cheeks.

Last but not the least, this handy, portable palette also contains a mini lip gloss, the Lip Glacé in Baby Doll to complete my “no-makeup look”.

Chanel Compact Powder (Jardin de Camelias Collection) – this powder is very light in texture and natural in color. I am not a big fan of putting too much powder or having too white makeup – so the rose tint that this powder gives is just perfect for me. This compact also leaves a satin finish and pearly shimmer for that nice healthy glow we need to have on our skin.

Chanel Liquid Eyeliner Intensity Definition in Black – If there’s one thing I am a fan of, it’s the black liquid eyeliner. I’ve tried a lot of brands out there but this is the only one that gives me a high intensity black color and that stays on long enough to last me from day till night.

But do you know what made me love this product even more?  I wore it during my 12-hour flight and there was no smudging and creasing that appeared on my eyelids, despite the richness and color of this eyeliner! 🙂

Chanel Aqualumiere Gloss in Baie Rose – Chanel’s Aqualumiere collection of lipglosses has a cult following and this particular color, Baie Rose, is one of their most popular ones because of its neutral pink shade. I use this alone during the day and it blends well with the natural color of my lips. I also use this at night, as a “topper” to my red lipstick, if I want to make the color red deeper and pop some more! 🙂

  1. For skin care, I never travel without my Shu Uemura cleansing oil (for normal skin, which works for me even if I have oily skin!) and a pot of good ol’ Katialis for random blemishes and mosquito bites. Both are like magic potions for my complexion. The cleansing oil gets every bit of makeup off my face without drying it, while Katialis makes unexpected rashes–usually allergic reactions to dust or heat– disappear in a matter of minutes.

My travel makeup kit, on the other hand, is a whole blog entry in itself. Way too many products in there. I’m amazed at how little makeup you use when traveling, Grace! I usually have at least four lipsticks on hand–even in my daily handbag! Haha.

    1. I love Shu Uemura cleansing oil too! I try to pack as light as possible…so these portable, handy makeup kits are my perfect travel companions! 🙂

    1. I love Laura Mercier’s palette too – they have great neutral colors that are easy to use. Thanks for dropping by! 🙂
