Rambla Brunch Menu

One of my favorite Spanish restaurants in the metro, Rambla, has just started offering a weekend brunch menu. This menu is available every Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm. They have a wide selection of Brunch favorites from eggs to sandwiches to burgers and sausages. They also give you an option of free flowing Cava or Sparkling Wine for an additional P595.

What are my favorites from their menu?

Estrellados or Eggs cooked over low fire with Shiitake Mushrooms and French Fries

Eggs Benedictine with Smoked Salmon and Crispy Jamon Serrano. The best part about this dish? The light and fluffy pancake blini underneath the glorious poached eggs and creamy hollandaise sauce!

Rambla is located at Ground Floor, Joya Building, Rockwell, Makati City.

The Butchery Sausages

unnamed-6

Seven unique flavors of fresh and organic sausages : Mint & Tarragon, Jalapeno, Rosemary & Red Wine, Parmesan & Parsley, Pio’s Saffron, Caramelized Onion & Mozzarella and Buffalo & Celery. Seven different and out-of-this world flavors of sausages, made only from the best-quality organic meat, fresh herbs and spices. What’s there not to love?

I’ve had these sausages for breakfast, appetizers and canapés. And since these are healthy and organic (compared to the usual sausages packed with artificial flavors and preservatives), I have cooked them for my children too. They love these sausages mixed with their favorite pasta or even, fried rice! 🙂

My favorite amongst the seven flavors?

Spruce Cold-Pressed Juices

2013-10-14 09.31.40

We are all aware that “juicing” and “detoxing” are the current rage nowadays. Although I am a big foodie and can eat almost anything and everything in front of me (!!), there are days when I just feel the need to rest my stomach and “de-bloat”. Admittedly though, I am not one to do a “full cleanse” or “ juice fast”, because I know I can never live without solid food — even for a day! As much as I can, I try to strike a good balance between indulgence and healthy eating. In our family’s table, fresh fruits and veggies are always a welcome sight and are a regular part of our meals.

That being the case, I’ve tried many different kinds of cold-pressed fresh juices that are out in the market today. But for me, Spruce makes the best tasting ones! They have a total of thirteen (13) different kinds of cold-pressed juices, ranging from sweet to savory, plus three (3) non-dairy nut milks, to ensure that there is something for everyone’s taste. They only use organic vegetables and fruits and press them on a daily basis so you are guaranteed that what you get are freshly made and packed with a whole lot of nutrients. They add no sugar or sweetener either, so what you taste from the bottle are the natural flavors and goodness of the fresh fruits and veggies used.

My two favorites?

Beta-Max : Spruce’s freshly pressed carrot juice. I usually drink this with my light meals, since it is not too sweet and it is like having another veggie dish.

Apple Of My Eye : has a wonderful combination of sweet apples and citrusy lemon. I take this as my “afternoon snack” to give me that boost of energy on a busy day.

Japanese Strawberries

2014-05-18 23.48.46 copy

Time and again, I have professed my love for these huge, luscious strawberries from Japan. (I’ve written about them a couple of times here on the blog.) Since this kind is one of the most expensive and is only available in Japan, I get the chance to have it only once a year when we go on our yearly trip to Tokyo.

So imagine my surprise when a couple of days ago, a good friend of mine, Cara, sent me two boxes of these gorgeous deep red and plump strawberries! She handcarried them all the way from Kyoto and was delivered right into my doorstep the day she arrived. (Now that’s being spoiled by my friends! 🙂 ) These strawberries are so juicy and sweet that you would think there was some kind of juice or sugar injected in them. But it really is just Japan’s natural soil and climate that makes them oh soooo deliciously pleasant and delightfully sweet.

I have loved strawberries even from way back, that when I was thinking of a logo for The Spoiled Mummy, this red fruit immediately came to my mind. I figured this is the image that best encapsulates me. (Sweet and plump? Yes! 🙂 ) And so here it is.
