Recently, The Spoiled Mummy hosted a different kind of party for her friends! It was neither my usual children’s birthday party nor was it my typical dinner gathering at home. This time around, I chose to give a “healthier” kind of party! The venue? Beyond Yoga at Bonifacio Global City, The Fort, Taguig.
Beyond Yoga has been in operation for only two years and it has already grown to 3 branches all over the Metro. This is run by a partnership of 5 young people — two of which happen to be good friends of mine, Cara and Chiqui. I have been attending their Anti-Gravity Yoga and Zumba classes for quite some time now and I must say, these two exercises have increased my energy levels and helped improve my over-all health and well-being.
It was one of those days when we were chatting over coffee and some deliciously sinful cupcakes that we decided to team up and co-host a Zumba and Detox Party for all our other friends who have always been curious about this new form of dance exercise and who are interested in getting fit and healthier.
As we were planning our Zumba party, we decided to make it even more fun by adding a Detox Party at the end of the dance class. Since the whole “Detoxing or Juicing” is very much in vogue these days, we figured this will be a good addition to the whole event. We then invited a raw food – vegan chef, Margo Lao, to join and teach us the basics of juicing our fresh fruits and veggies.
Our fun and energetic Zumba Teachers : Sharon and TanTan.
Trivia : Zumba was created by a Colombian dancer and choreographer named Alberto Perez back in the ’90s. He created Zumba to combine the Latin dance moves he’s familiar with and his own fitness program!
It is very popular these days since it is a dance and exercise fitness regimen rolled into one. It saves people a lot of time and yet it provides double the energy and yes, double the fun too! 🙂
The whole hour was filled with lots of aerobic movements that were done in combination with Latin dance moves like the samba and salsa. We were all having fun dancing (and sweating) to the heart-stomping beat of some of the most popular dance music these days!
Surely, everyone got their adrenaline rush from this dance class! And since we were all friends in one room, it was even more fun to watch how everyone was dancing! 🙂
And so this is me! 🙂 I really tried my best to do all the movements with as much energy as possible — thinking the whole time that I have to burn all the sugar and fat stores that have long been hiding inside my body!
And guess what the best part of the class was for me? The ending! 🙂 We all felt really good stretching our tired and finally-used muscles!
My very supportive, amazing and super energetic friends! 🙂 Thanks guys for joining me! It really made the whole dance exercise easier and much more fun!!!
Special thanks to Slice for providing us with these yummy cupcakes! It was our well-deserved reward after that grueling workout!
As the second part of our event, the Detox Party (the Juicing Demo) was being prepared, we had Cristalle Belo come and talk about another way of losing weight. She discussed how Sexy Solutions has helped a lot of people (both celebrities and non-celebrities alike) lose those unwanted bulges the safe and non-invasive way.
After the high-energy class of the Zumba, this short talk was a good way to relax and listen to another way of looking good and feeling good!
We were shown different sizes and weight of fat and muscle prototypes!
Our raw food chef, Margo Lao, here being weighed by the Sexy Solutions team. This equipment called Multi-firm which they brought in for our event, measures not only the weight of a person, but also his or her BMI index, fat and muscle content, amongst many other things.
The Detox Party was next! Chef Margo Lao and her Juicing Demo.
Special thanks to Breville, for providing us with our juicer, fresh fruits and veggies.
Chef Margo Lao used the Breville Juicer, particularly the one called The Juice Fountain Max. She taught us two recipes : the basic Green Smoothie which she calls Mean Green and a yellow smoothie which she calls The Darling Sunshine Juice.
Recipe is as follows :
MEAN GREEN – 1 cucumber, 4 celery stalks, 2 apples, 6-8 kale leaves (Australian tuscan cabbage) or if unavailable, camote tops, 1/2 lemon and 1 tbsp ginger.
THE DARLING SUNSHINE JUICE – 1 whole chayote (seed removed), 1 handful camote tops, 1 handful malunggay, 1 thumb turmeric, 1/2 pineapple (skin removed).
I had to try it myself too… It was actually my very first time to try “juicing” veggies and fruits together! And because the Breville juicer was so strong and powerful, everything was fast and easy especially for a first-timer like me! 🙂 The end result? Everything was delicious and refreshing – it was the perfect post-workout recovery drink!
The success of The Spoiled Mummy’s event wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of these two amazing ladies! My sincerest and heartfelt thanks to Cara and Chiqui, for inviting The Spoiled Mummy and her friends to have this fun Zumba and Detox Party in their Beyond Yoga studio! We all truly felt pampered and spoiled here — and definitely healthier… and hopefully now, sexier too!! 🙂 🙂

great party idea!
Wow Grace what a lovely idea to throw such a party! And I love the fact you had guest speakers who demonstrated their own areas of expertise. Brilliant! I think the best way to stay healthy/fit is when you are surrounded by people who do the same thing..it’s alot easier =) P.s. You look so good– while exercising pa! I felt ashamed with myself eating a cookie while reading this entry so I chucked it away (well what was left of it anyway). Cheers to good health and looking great!
Thanks, Mika! Go ahead eat that cookie…it’s okay to spoil ourselves once in a while! We mummies deserve it! 🙂
Wow. How did Breville reach out to you and give you the juicer, through your contact form on your site?? You’re very lucky to have free things coming your way!
Hi Oscar, we didn’t give out any juicer. Breville was an event sponsor and did a demo on juicing.
Now a days people are looking for juicing diet. For healthy and fit life, it is important to take food and drinks with nutrition benefits. Beside regular work out people also love to drink some fruit and vegetable juice which gives them an extra boost. Thanks to the writer for this awesome article.
Wow such a brilliant idea, doing good things in the form of a party. I think such events will inspire people for healthy lifestyle and kids will also be motivated to build a healthy diet. I’m gonna try like this too 🙂
