I am not exactly a morning person, but it’s safe to say that I always look forward to my breakfasts! After all, it is my first meal of the day and for someone who loves to eat, that first meal is very, very important.
My breakfast is as crucial to me as my lunch and dinner. This is what fuels me for the rest of the day. I also do my daily workout in the mornings, so having a good start is THAT important. Safe to say too that a good breakfast always puts me in a good mood; but a lousy breakfast makes the Hubby stay away from me in the first few hours of the day! 🙂
I love my simple breakfasts at home but I love breakfasts that are elaborately prepared in a different place by someone else — even better! 🙂 I love doing mine and my family’s breakfasts in the morning (even planning them out the night before), but I must admit there is something quite special about not “working” in the kitchen in the morning and just waiting expectantly to be fed around the breakfast table.
Most of my breakfast meals outside the home are more of the Western variety and are usually composed of cheese, granola and a whole lot of eggs. You will notice (in the photos that follow) that I always order the classic English breakfast dish, Eggs Benedict, almost everywhere! This has become my ultimate breakfast comfort food, so I have made it my mission to find the best ones from here and from around the world! 🙂
Here are some delicious and memorable breakfasts I’ve enjoyed from some of my travels…
Open-faced Egg Omelette topped with Brie, Sundried Tomatoes and Arugula. From Singita Lebombo Lodge, South Africa.
(I’ve written about this trip to South Africa in this article here.)

Still from Singita Lebombo Lodge, South Africa : my all-time fave breakfast dish, Eggs Benedict or Perfectly Poached Egg on top of Ham and baked with Hollandaise sauce.
The next four dishes are from my favorite Breakfast place Wild Honey, which I make sure I go to whenever I’m in Singapore :
Photo above shows their very fluffy Omelette with Goat’s Cheese, Sheep Feta Cheese and fresh Basil leaves, added with a small drizzle of Lavender Honey and paired with their grilled Ciabatta bread on the side.

And from here, I have always liked the carefully prepared breakfast dishes in Red, Makati Shangri-la. In fact, this is where I chose to have my birthday breakfast, as I’ve written about in this article here.
Photo above shows their Cheese Platter served with Thyme, Onion Marmalade, Lavender Honey and Oat Cakes.
Egg Frittata with Chopped Beef, Potato and Veggies with Tomato Pepperonata and Feta Cheese. From Red, Makati Shangri-la.
Also from Red, Makati Shangri-la is another version of my all-time favorite, Eggs Benedict on Brioche with Grilled Tomato, Corned Beef with Corn, Asparagus and then topped and baked with Truffle Hollandaise Sauce.

yum!!! everything looks soooooo good!
Everything looks delish but my typical favorite breakfast I’d like to share is spam and rice.
I love spam and rice too…make that toasted spam and garlic rice!
Most memorable: my first Southern breakfast prepared by my fiance. Biscuits with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh orange juice and coffee strong enough to jolt me awake and energize me throughout the day!
Sweet!!! I hope someday my hubby can prepare my breakfast too!! 🙂
Wow! They all look so delicious! My fave breakfast would be the Pinoy favorites tapsilog and tosilog, nothing fancy 🙂 That is if I’m not at home. If I’m home, it’s got to be pancakes slathered with French butter and syrup!
I cook and eat a lot of Pinoy breakfasts at home too! 🙂 But when I travel, that’s when I take advantage of the good chefs, and ask for their more complicated dishes, esp. the ones I really can’t make at home! 🙂
Your method of explaining the whole thing in this article is really good, all be able to effortlessly know it, Thanks a
lot.
This is so lovely! One of my life’s mantra is to Travel the world and sample breakfast in all of the cities and/or countries I will be visiting or be living in. Thank you for this! 🙂
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day too 🙂 Thanks for dropping by! 🙂
