The Answer to My Hair Problems : The Dyson Supersonic

If you have been reading this blog and following me for some time now, I’m sure you know how I am very  “particular” about my hair. I can never leave the house with wet hair, that’s one. And second, I always make sure my hair is kept clean and neat; as my mother taught me that when I go out, there should never be a strand out of place — so I need to brush my hair at least 100 times a day! Of course, the second one is a bit exaggerated — as no one really counts while brushing their hair and it is also practically impossible to never have a strand of hair out of place!

So the closest thing I do to make sure that my hair is always neat and “in place” — is blow drying it! My hair is long, thick, wavy and unruly, so this means I need to blow dry it for AT LEAST AN HOUR with a “strong” hair dryer to get my desired results! And since I am not so good at doing this on my own, I run to the nearest hair salon and have it blow dried professionally. Now this is where the problem lies…

With the number of events I have to go to in a week (from personal stuff to work-related events of The Spoiled Mummy and Grace Home), I have been going to the salon at least 3 times a week now. Now I know that’s a lot of blow drying expense right there… but at the same time, it also leads me to the next and bigger problem :  DAMAGED HAIR!

So enter the “coolest” and most advanced hair dryer in the market today : the very sleek, compact and yet ultra-powerful Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer. I’ve been delaying getting one for myself as I’ve always believed there’s no significant difference between this one and what the salons use. I’ve always thought that the professional hair dryers used by the hairstylists are way better since they are “stronger” — without realizing that this “strong” means blasting air at super high temperature and with it, the risk of our hair being sucked into and trapped in the filter!

Of course, now I know I am wrong. After years of abuse with frequent blow drying, I have seriously damaged hair! My hair is dry and my usual hair shine and volume are now gone!

So when I finally got my own Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer  it was like the most-awaited answer to my prayer! This machine is so light and easy to maneuver unlike those bulky and heavy ones used in the salons. And you will appreciate this quality more on those days when you are the one blow drying your hair! It also uses a fast but focused airflow and intelligently controls the temperature to help protect our hair from extreme heat damage.

So on special occasions that I really have to go to a salon to have my hair profesionally blow dried, I now bring my own Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer with me! Even my hairstylist is so happy, as the usual 1 hour blow drying time for my hair (and with a heavy hair dryer at that) is now cut down by half! So aside from protecting my hair from heat damage, I am also saving myself a lot of time! This is really heaven-sent to us women who go through the same hair problems!

Now my hair is softer, shinier and with more bouncy volume!

Here are some more fun facts about this amazing machine :

The Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer is powered by the patented Dyson digital motor V9, created in-house by a team of over 15 motor engineers specifically for this machine. It is Dyson’s smallest, lightest, most advanced digital motor.

It is up to eight times faster than other hair dryer motors and half the weight. In addition, because the Dyson digital motor is engineered to be powerful yet compact it is small enough to be positioned in the handle rather than the head; because of this, the machine is engineered for balance. Most conventional hair dryers have the motor in the head of the machine.

Some conventional hair dryers can reach extreme temperatures, especially when held close to your head. This can cause extreme heat damage to your hair. The Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer has intelligent heat control, helping to ensure hair isn’t exposed to excessive temperatures. A glass bead thermistor measures the temperature 20 times a second and transmits this data to the microprocessor, which intelligently controls the patented double-stacked heating element.

Traditional hair dryers can sometimes have a weak airflow, meaning they are slow. Others can have strong airflow, but it is not necessarily controlled. The Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer creates a focused jet of air, angled at 20° for controlled, precise drying and styling, allowing you to dry and style at the same time.
