I have a confession to make. Since I got back from my trip, I’ve become more skin conscious… I suddenly found myself caring for my skin more meticulously than ever before. I don’t know if it’s because of the realization that I am not getting any younger, or maybe it’s because my skin just breaks out after every long trip — especially if I came from somewhere really cold!
It’s also been a while since I last wrote about beauty on the blog, so this post comes at a perfect time, because just last week I was invited by the House of Obagi Dermatology to try their facial treatment and their Obagi Nu-Derm® products.
Since this is my first time in their clinic, I decided to get two of their signature treatments : the Obagi Signature Treatment Facial and the Diamond Peel. This full facial treatment promises to bring back my skin’s natural radiance by the use of only the expert-trusted Obagi Nu-Derm® products.
So how did it go?
Well first, my facial therapist used the Obagi Nu-Derm® Foaming Gel. This product gently removed my makeup and impurities, and gave me a clean, fresh feeling right after. The bonus is that this facial wash smells really good because of its aloe vera ingredient!
Then in the next step, my face was scrubbed and exfoliated with a light exfoliating cream. After which, a gentle kind of pressure was applied on certain points of my face. This kind of facial massage is definitely good for our skin as it helps remove the toxin buildup.
Next I was given the facial steam. A lot of people don’t really like this part since it feels “hot” on the face and you “sweat”, but personally I love it! The steam opened up my pores which prepared it for the “extraction” that came right after. Again, a lot of people don’t like having their faces “pricked”, but believe me when I say that we all need this step to rid our faces of the pesky whiteheads and blackheads. If you don’t remove them, they will actually turn into the peskier kind — pimples!
After the extraction, my facial therapist then used laser beam to close my pores. This is again important since my pores opened up during the steaming and my face turned slightly red due to the pricking. This laser helped heal and refine my pores. (And this step did not hurt at all!)
After the laser, an enzyme mask containing pineapple and oatmeal extracts was then applied to my face. It hardened a little bit but not too much to make me feel uncomfortable. This provided my skin all the moisture it needed!
After 20 mins, the mask was removed. My facial therapist then called in Dr. Alma, the in-house dermatologist to do my Diamond Peel. In this clinic, they let the doctors do the Diamond Peel for you. (This process cannot be done by just any facial therapist).
What’s nice about this kind of exfoliation is you can be assured that your dead skin cells and everything else on top of that (all the other white heads and black heads that were not removed from the extraction) will be completely removed. This is a totally safe and painless kind of exfoliation and peel that in fact, we can do it as often as once a week!
And of course to get the full benefits of my facial, I knew that it is important that I follow it up with a good skincare regimen at home… So I brought home these 3 amazing products that I am using now :
The Obagi Nu-Derm® Foaming Gel, Obagi Nu-Derm® Toner, and the Obagi Nu-Derm® Sunshield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50.
The Foaming Gel is my facial wash that removes dirt and makeup (it’s the same one used during my facial in the clinic), the Toner is the one that helps adjust the pH of my skin (it’s non-drying) and the Sunshield SPF 50 is my sunscreen that provides both UVA and UVB protection in a non-greasy, PABA-free, and fragrance-free formula. I love all of them, but most especially the sunscreen which is sheer and leaves such a nice matte finish — making me not want to use foundation anymore!
This facial and Diamond Peel cleaned and purified my face from all dirt and impurities, and gave me anti-aging and skin lightening benefits as well. This intensive treatment turned my skin from looking tired to looking young and fresh again — perfectly in time for a shoot I had the following day!
