IMG_6759Are there some days when you are stuck in a rut and you don’t know what to cook for your family? Do you often get surprise visits from friends and you are thrown off guard not knowing what to serve them? Are you always trying to impress your in-laws about your cooking prowess and wanting to show them that you know your way around the kitchen? Did your cook of so many years leave you just like that? Are you tired of the usual dishes you cook for yourself or for your family everyday?

Because I know a lot of you mummies answered YES to at least one if not all of these questions, I have decided to come up with a food series in the blog called Homecooked Goodness, where I will feature some of my favorite home cooks or chefs who specialize in preparing delicious and ready-to-eat dishes that we can order and enjoy in the comfort of our own homes. One common ingredient amongst all these dishes? They are all cooked with love and are characterized with that warmth of a homemade meal and filled with that homecooked goodness! 🙂

And of course, please feel free to drop me a line or two in the comments section below and share with all our readers your favorite homecooks and chefs as well, who offer these kinds of homecooked dishes.

Our first Homecooked Goodness feature is Real Girl Toy Kitchen of Johanna Garcia. Johanna used to be a full-time corporate executive with a very busy schedule who found no time to cook on a regular basis. She would usually end up buying some unhealthy takeout meals or eating in some expensive fine dining restaurants to satiate her hunger. She longed for the delicious, slow-cooked dishes that her mother used to make. Until one day, it dawned on her that she should try her hand in the kitchen once again.

This began her big leap from being a corporate executive to an artisanal food entrepreneur. Real Girl Toy Kitchen was then born.

What I personally love most about Real Girl Toy Kitchen is that all her products are made with premium ingredients. Johanna uses only fresh and organic produce wherever possible. Meats are grass-fed and/or organic, and cooking oils (usually olive) are never re-used.

Admittedly, the selections are not necessarily low-cal or low-fat or any other kind of “diet food” per se. But this is seriously high-quality “real food” that’s simply GOOD, hearty and nourishing.  As Johanna puts it, “it nourishes not just the body, but the soul and senses as well”.
